According to Tekna technology and technology news service, the area of the largest vertical farm in the world is more than 30,000 square meters, which was launched near the Dubai International Airport. This vertical farm is supposed to produce more than nine hundred thousand kilograms of vegetables annually.

According to Emirates Flight Catering website, this vertical farm has a closed loop system where water circulates through the plants and therefore it is used effectively. The process of evaporated water is kept in the recycling section and due to the existence of this system, about 250 ml of water will be saved every year compared to traditional agriculture.

The products of this farm with the abbreviation ECO 1 are supposed to be sold through stores under the Bustanica brand, and passengers of Emirates and other airlines can also use the vegetables of this farm in their flights. Because these vegetables are clean, they will no longer need to be washed first. Because pesticides, herbicides and other chemicals will not be used in its cultivation.

The UAE started the construction of this vertical farm in 2018. Also, in cooperation with Crop One and Emirates Airlines, a 40 million dollar investment was made to build it.
